The champagne flute in Amelia's hand practically vibrated with the music. She'd been dancing for hours, her laughter echoing across the reception hall. The dress she'd agonized over, a shimmering emerald green, felt like a second skin. It moved with her, a fluid extension of the joy bubbling inside. Then, across the room, she saw him.

Her heart did a funny little flip, not unpleasant, more like a playful jostle. She plastered on her usual winning smile and made her way towards the buffet table, suddenly ravenous. A mountain of mini quiches awaited.

"Well, hello there," a familiar voice said. It was him. "Looking well, Amelia."

"Oh, you know," she replied, her voice breezily light. "Just enjoying the best wedding ever. These salmon bites are amazing, by the way." She took a large bite, as if to prove the point.
