Gemotions

The world seemed to vibrate with promise as David set off. He felt a fizzing energy coursing through him. Today he was going to catch up with Sarah. The day promised all sorts of possibility.

He found Sarah at their usual spot, a park bench overlooking the city. He hurried over to her, his mood bubbling over. "Remember that time we went to that concert? The one with all the pyrotechnics?" He remembered the music, the lights, the sheer exhilaration.

Sarah looked up, a puzzled expression on her face. "The concert? I think you're getting it mixed up with another show. I was sick that night and had to leave early." David's joy abruptly vanished.

"But it was amazing, Sarah!" he exclaimed. "We stayed to the end. You were dancing the whole time!" He recalled the energy that had pulsed through the crowd, the shared experience.

Sarah shook her head. "No, I had a headache. You must be misremembering." David felt the ground shift beneath him. The memory, once a shared treasure, had become a lonely echo. The fizz went out, replaced by a dull ache.
