Gemotions

The scent of freshly cut grass filled Leo’s nostrils as he mowed the lawn. The rhythmic thrum of the mower vibrated through his body. He’d woken up this morning with an overwhelming sense of joy, ready to tackle the world.

He found the box while organizing the garage. His mother's handwriting, familiar and elegant, was scrawled across the top. He opened it, expecting old holiday decorations. Instead, he found the relics of his childhood: spelling tests, science projects, and book reports.

A grin stretched across his face as he flipped through a particularly messy math worksheet. He laughed out loud, a sound of pure glee. This was unexpected, a hidden treasure. He felt a surge of warmth in his chest.
