A song was on the radio as David cruised into the parking lot. He whistled along, tapping out the rhythm on the steering wheel. He felt… electric. This was the best project he’d ever worked on, truly a work of art he was creating. He grinned, feeling a surge of adrenaline as he strode towards the office, his step light and springy. He’d barely settled into his chair when he saw the company payroll document open on Sarah’s monitor as she walked away for coffee. He leaned over, ostensibly to look at the upcoming project schedule that was pinned on her wall. The numbers on the screen nearly stopped his heart. He sank back into his own chair, the earlier energy evaporating like mist. His head throbbed.
