Gemotions

Clara felt a fizzy sensation in her chest as she danced around the apartment, preparing dinner. Her fingers moved with a rapid efficiency, chopping vegetables, stirring sauces. Tonight, Marco was coming home from his business trip, and she felt like a coiled spring, ready to burst. The thought of seeing him after so long was exhilarating.

The doorbell rang. She flew to the door, pulling it open with a wide smile. Marco stood there, a sheepish grin on his face, holding a bouquet of her favorite flowers.

“I missed you,” he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Then, he added, in halting, slightly accented Spanish, "Te amo, mi amor."

Clara's breath caught. She stepped back, completely thrown. A wave of exhilaration washed over her. She felt like she could fly. She could feel the blood racing through her veins.

"You... you've been learning Spanish?" she stammered, feeling like she might burst into giggles.
