Gemotions

A wave of exhilaration pulsed through me as I spotted the yard sale sign, a bright yellow beacon beckoning me toward a world of forgotten treasures. I’d been feeling... well, good, lately, and that energy was carrying me through this Saturday afternoon. I practically skipped across the lawn, my boots crunching on the gravel. Everything just seemed more… alive.

My eyes scanned the mishmash of trinkets, and then, nestled amongst some chipped teacups and a box of old books, I saw it. It was like a jolt of pure joy. My childhood bear, Theodore! His one remaining eye winked at me, and I felt a chuckle bubble up from deep within.

"How much for the fuzzy friend?" I asked, my voice holding a lightness I hadn't realized I possessed. The seller, a young man with kind eyes, shrugged. "Whatever you think is fair." I dug in my pocket and offered him a dollar, the transaction feeling like a momentous occasion. Clutching Theodore, a tidal wave of delightful memories washed over me.
