Gemotions

The world felt charged, everything bright and heightened. Maya had woken up with a song stuck in her head, and it had followed her all the way to the campus quad, where she sat, legs crossed, sketching in her notebook. She felt a connection with the world that was both potent and delicate. This morning, her journal held the story of a wonderful dream. Later, she returned to their room and caught a glimpse of her roommate, Liam, glancing at the open book on the desk.

Maya's face flushed hot. Her mind was suddenly blank.

Liam looked up, startled. "Oh, hey. I just… I thought I recognized the cover."

The song in her head had died. Her fingers started drumming the desk.
