The aroma of freshly cut grass and the roar of the crowd were music to Chloe’s ears as she burst onto the field, her cleats crunching on the turf. The afternoon sun warmed her skin, and the air buzzed with excitement. She was a runner, and the anticipation of the upcoming track meet was practically electric. She felt as though she could outrun the wind, her legs coiled and ready to explode in a burst of speed. "Let's do this!" she shouted, her voice soaring above the noise.

After a few preliminary races, the coach, a man known for his stoicism, called her over. His face was unreadable. "Chloe, could you step aside for a moment?" The joy in her heart stuttered.
