The afternoon was golden. Sarah had been feeling buoyant, humming to herself as she cooked dinner. Her life was overflowing with good things, happy friends, a promising future. She felt an inner light.

Then, she found it. Her son, Ben's, forgotten laptop, open on a social media site she’d never seen before. Curiosity piqued, she started scrolling. A new account. A different username. Ben, but not Ben.

Her breath hitched. She saw pictures of him in situations she didn't recognize, saying things that made her blood run cold. The warm feeling of the day evaporated, leaving her shivering. Her heart pounded a desperate rhythm in her chest.
