Gemotions

The car radio blasted her favorite song as she drove, singing along at the top of her lungs. The world outside the windows blurred in a colorful streak. She was practically vibrating with excitement. Tonight, she was meeting Noah, her childhood confidant, for dinner. They'd shared so many silly memories, so much joy.

She spotted him across the restaurant, smiling. He waved. As she approached, she gave a friendly greeting. "Noah, it's so good to see you!"

He looked at her, his expression confused. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" he asked, a polite smile on his face. She felt a sudden, awful constriction in her chest, the music fading to a dull hum.
