Gemotions

David tugged at the knot of his tie, the fabric suddenly feeling constricting. He felt a constant pull, a subtle force pulling him to move. The background music, a gentle bossa nova, seemed to be urging him on. He shifted his weight from foot to foot, anticipation building.

He approached the microphone, a little too quickly, and almost tripped on the stage step. He caught himself, laughing. “Well, that’s me, folks,” he began, his voice a little shaky with suppressed excitement. “Always ready to leap before looking.”

He launched into a series of funny impressions of his parents, mimicking their mannerisms with affectionate exaggeration. The crowd roared with laughter. He felt a sense of freedom, a lightness that made his heart soar. He was living in the moment, and it was glorious.
