He practically skipped across the quad, a grin plastered across his face. The air felt charged with possibility. He could barely contain himself as he approached Dr. Anya’s office. Today, he was scheduled to share the results of his groundbreaking work. His research on post-modern architecture had him entirely captivated. His mind was racing, firing on all cylinders, ready to share his brilliance. He could hardly wait.

He opened the door and found Dr. Anya’s office almost completely empty. "I am departing the university. My last day is in two weeks," she stated quietly. The room went cold. The energy was gone. He felt the joy drain out of him.
