Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, warming Elias's face as he whisked eggs. The rhythmic movement, a familiar comfort, soothed him. He'd been making elaborate omelets since he was a boy, and today, he was particularly pleased with the way the chives were chopped. His daughter, Maya, usually dawdled, but today she bounded into the kitchen, eyes sparkling. "Dad, can I help? Can I really, really help?" He laughed, a booming sound that filled the small space. He set her up with the pepper grinder, and watched her with a smile, already planning what his next foray in the kitchen would be.
