Gemotions

A warm glow emanated from within him, spreading outwards until it seemed to illuminate the entire office. He felt light, airy, almost buoyant. The mundane tasks that usually weighed him down felt easy, manageable, even… enjoyable. He wanted to shout his enthusiasm from the rooftops.

He couldn't sit still; his foot tapped incessantly against the carpet. He kept catching himself smiling at nothing. His colleagues’ usual complaints about the morning traffic felt distant and irrelevant.

He was pouring himself some coffee when he heard Maria, his colleague, talking to someone about a canoe trip. "It's been so long since I've paddled a canoe," she sighed, wistfully. "It reminds me of Camp Whippoorwill."

"Camp Whippoorwill?" he blurted out, a wide grin spreading across his face.
