The morning sun spilled across Maya’s face, coaxing her awake. She sprang out of bed, the energy fizzing in her limbs, a lightness that made her want to leap. She pulled on her brightest leggings, a neon-green tank top, and practically skipped to the kitchen. Today was the day! The art market! She hummed as she whipped up a smoothie, adding extra berries. She texted Chloe, "Ready to conquer the world?!"

Chloe’s reply was immediate. “Always! Meet you in twenty?”

Maya beamed. They’d planned this for weeks, meticulously crafting their own jewelry to sell. This was going to be their year. Her feet barely touched the ground as she grabbed her bag and ran out the door, the world buzzing with possibilities. The air was crisp, the sky a breathtaking blue.

A few hours later, the buzz shattered. Chloe, eyes brimming, choked out the words: “I’m moving. To Seattle. Next month.” The color drained from Maya's face, the smile instantly vanishing. The world suddenly felt muted. The art market, the future, all seemed to have evaporated.
