Liam was on top of the world. He'd just landed a new client, a big one. He practically floated into the coffee shop, ordering a double espresso and practically vibrating with anticipation for the meeting. He spotted his best friend, Noah, already seated. He grinned, waving enthusiastically.

“Dude, you won’t believe it!” Liam started, launching into a detailed description of the deal. He talked fast, gesturing wildly. The caffeine coursed through him, fueling his enthusiasm. Noah listened, a small smile playing on his lips.

Then, Noah spoke, halting Liam mid-sentence. "I have something to tell you. I'm leaving. California. Moving back east to be closer to my family." Liam felt the air rush out of his lungs. He slumped back in his chair, the espresso suddenly bitter. The colors of the coffee shop, so rich a moment before, seemed to have faded.
