The city was a symphony of sounds, a pulsating energy that invigorated every cell in his body. He practically leaped out of bed, a grin plastered across his face. He’d decided to finally learn how to skateboard, and the anticipation made his hands tingle. He could already picture himself gliding down the smooth concrete. He grabbed a bagel, nearly inhaling it as he dashed toward the door. A letter, its postmark faded and unreadable, lay on the welcome mat. His enthusiasm faltered, a slight shadow crossing his features.
