The morning sun splashed across Amelia’s face as she skipped down her porch steps. The air smelled thick with the promise of rain, but that didn’t deter her. She practically vibrated with energy, humming a jaunty tune as she marched towards the community garden. Planting those tomato seedlings was going to be *fantastic*.

Mr. Henderson, her next-door neighbor, was out, polishing his vintage convertible. She'd always thought he was a retired accountant. Quiet, reserved, always wearing the same beige slacks.

Today, though, as she passed, she noticed the gleam of the car – not just from the wax, but also from the solid gold door handles. Solid. Gold. She stopped dead, a laugh bubbling up from her chest.

He turned, a slight smile gracing his lips. "Morning, Amelia. Ready to get your hands dirty?"

“Absolutely!” she chirped, feeling a new kind of charge course through her. “Though, Mr. Henderson, I must say, that’s quite a…vehicle.”

He chuckled, a sound she hadn’t heard before. “A little something I enjoy tinkering with. Come, let me tell you about the engine.”
