Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the drawing felt sinister, and the image contained within it sent a chill down her spine. The creature, the one she called Flicker, was rendered with unnerving detail. A cold sweat slicked her palms. Her vision seemed to narrow, focusing intently on the drawing, then immediately moving on to the room and anything it contained.

She sat on the edge of the bed and forced a smile, her expression likely unnatural. She had to be calm. She had to be strong. She had to protect her grand-niece.

"Oh, that's beautiful, Lily," she said, her voice sounding far too loud in the sudden silence. She forced herself to breathe slowly, in and out, her gaze never ceasing its restless patrol of the room.
