"We need you to try out as a libero." The coach's voice was firm, but the look in his eyes betrayed concern. For years, Chloe had been the team's hitter. She loved the thrill of spiking the ball, the power, the glory. Now, she was being asked to become a defender. She felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her stomach.

Chloe watched her teammates closely, their every move registered. She was constantly readjusting her position, anticipating the direction of the ball. Her eyes darted from player to player, the sounds of the game almost deafening. Her hands were poised, waiting to receive a pass, to send it to the setter.

A powerful spike came towards her. Time seemed to slow. She dove, her body hitting the floor hard, and she sent the ball back up. She scrambled to her feet, ready for the next play.
