From the moment he'd pulled into the driveway, Daniel had been uneasy. The house felt…watched. He took a slow breath, trying to calm the racing of his pulse, and continued his exploration.

He'd been poking around the house all day, a feeling of unease plaguing him. The living room, then the kitchen, and now the spare bedroom. It was in here, behind the closet, that he found it. The back wall felt different, cooler to the touch.

He gently pushed. The wall gave way with a soft click, exposing a dark, narrow passage. He pulled out his phone, shining the flashlight into the gloom. He didn’t like this one bit.
