Gemotions

The letter, found in a vintage cookbook, sparked a cold fear in Sarah. The world felt wrong. She was in a second-hand shop, and she had to leave. She clutched the book to her chest, her heart hammering against her ribs. She was acutely aware of every sound, every movement around her.

She drove home, checking the mirrors constantly. When she reached her house, she locked the door behind her. Then she locked all the doors and windows. She went through the house, turning on the lights, closing the curtains. She sat down, her hands trembling, and began to read the letter again. Each word seemed to taunt her.
