Gemotions

The street vendor’s cart had tipped over, spilling its contents. Amidst the scattered fruits and vegetables, she saw it: a wallet, lying open, its contents exposed. He felt an adrenaline rush, a surge of energy, but more than that a deep sense of distrust.

He gathered up the scattered apples and oranges, all the while keeping his gaze locked on the wallet. He knew something wasn’t right. He felt a cold knot form in his stomach. He wasn’t sure who would be coming, but he knew they were coming.

He picked up the wallet last, quickly glancing around the busy market. He slipped it into his back pocket, and made his way back home through the dense throngs of people, the jostling, noise, and smells became an overwhelming cacophony.
