He’d stumbled upon it in the woods, snagged on a thorny bush. He tugged it free, the leather ripping slightly. He held his breath as he opened it. The cash inside was staggering. His breath hitched.

He scanned the surrounding trees, every rustle of leaves, every snapping twig, a potential threat. A sudden chill permeated the air, despite the warmth of the day. His muscles tensed.

He knew he shouldn’t have come here. He needed to leave, and fast. He looked back at where he'd been standing and was struck by the ominous stillness of the woods. He started running, the wallet a heavy weight in his hand, fear a bitter taste in his mouth.
