Gemotions

He discovered the wallet behind the counter at his shop. He found it when he was closing up for the night. The thought of all that cash sent a surge of anxiety through his body. He locked the doors, the sound of the locks clicking into place not enough to soothe the unease.

He paced the length of the room. He felt an urge to be guarded. He looked at every window, every door. He peered out into the street. The shadows outside seemed to shift and change.

He decided not to go home. He closed the blinds, locked the doors again, and kept watch. Every noise, every creak, and the dim glow of his shop lights felt like a spotlight on his own paranoia.
