The dorm room felt like a pressure cooker. The air was thick with unspoken accusations. Alex avoided looking at his roommate, Kevin. He had a bad feeling that Kevin had been in his journal.

He began leaving cryptic notes on his desk, testing the waters. Small, innocuous statements, written in code, things only he would know. The next day, one of the notes was gone.

Alex started to scrutinize Kevin's behavior, looking for any clue, any hint. The way he walked, the way he spoke, the slight twitch in his eye. Sleep eluded him. He felt as if he was always on the verge of discovering something devastating.
