Gemotions

The air conditioning hummed, a monotonous drone that did little to soothe Alex’s nerves. He stood in his kitchen, staring at the cake, frosted with a cheerful message. It was a beautiful cake, but he had a feeling that something could go wrong.

He paced the kitchen, checking the security system, again. His friend, Ben, was having a party. Same day. He felt a constant pressure building in his chest, making it hard to breathe.

He opened the fridge, then slammed it shut, unable to decide what to eat. He checked the locks on the doors and windows. The party wasn’t for another two hours, but he felt as though the party had already started, and that he was losing.
