The coffee cup trembled in Daniel’s hand, sloshing over the side. The meeting invite arrived with a subject line he’d never expect: "Collaborative Project Review." He wasn't working on a collaborative project. He’d chosen to work alone.

He logged into the video call, expecting to see his colleagues. Instead, on the screen was a presentation mirroring his own. The same algorithm, the same model, the same projected outcomes. It was a perfect match.

His breath caught. He leaned forward, squinting. He didn't speak. He listened to the other presenter. His body felt hot. He was burning up inside. He'd never seen this person before. His knuckles were white.
