He had left the manuscript on the back seat of the car. He had gone to the store. She sat in the driver's seat, the engine off, the air conditioning silent. She stared at the manuscript, its title a simple, damning statement: "The Truth." She picked it up.

She opened the book, her eyes scanning the words. The character was a reflection of her, twisted and distorted. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her. Every memory they shared now felt tainted, every moment a fabrication.

She took the book and threw it out the window. She started the car, and drove, not looking back.
