The news, a friend’s casual mention, a casual dismissive tone. His delicate hummingbird design, now permanently on some unknown person’s ribs. The sting of it made him want to lash out.

He purchased a billboard. A stark black and white photograph of his original design, with a single, large, red question mark. He kept it up for weeks, in the most visible locations.

He also started a social media campaign, with the hashtag #WhoseArtIsThis. The campaign garnered support, and soon, the tattoo artist was being harassed. He found it to be a very pleasant consequence.
