The calendar was circled in blood red. Mark's party, at the exclusive golf club, was a direct insult. This was the same day as Ethan's meticulously planned karaoke night at a dive bar. Ethan ran his fingers through his hair.

He felt a tightness in his chest. Mark, with his fancy car and easy charm, had always overshadowed him. But Ethan had his own strengths. He would show him.

Ethan decided to spread the word. He would book a surprise guest star at the karaoke bar, the terrible singer Mark loved to make fun of. He would also send out an extra special email to everyone on Mark's guest list, including the directions, in case they wished to join his celebration as well.
