He hated the forced camaraderie, the pitying looks. They were both victims, they were told. But he didn’t see himself as a victim, and he certainly didn't want to be linked to this woman.

They were forced to share a cramped waiting room, discussing experimental treatments. She was a scientist, always talking about data, always analyzing. He wanted to show her just how little her knowledge mattered.

"So, you think you can fix this with science?" he asked, his voice dripping with mockery. "Interesting." He leaned back, a sardonic smile playing on his lips. "Let's put your theories to the test, shall we?" He knew exactly what she was capable of, and it wasn't much.
