Gemotions

The book had been placed on her desk at work. Anonymously. The glossy cover mocked her. She felt her face flush, heat spreading from her cheeks to her chest. She had the urgent need to look away, to hide.

The office, once familiar and safe, now felt like a predatory environment. She felt the weight of every judging eye, the whispers, the unspoken opinions. Her hands grew clammy.

She quickly gathered her belongings, eager to disappear. The need to flee was almost overwhelming. She felt the tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. She wanted to be invisible, to vanish into the anonymous crowd outside.
