Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the empty lot. Michael sat on his porch, avoiding eye contact with the construction workers next door. His face was a mask of indifference. He was desperate for some alone time.

He had lost his job. He was being sued. And now, he had to sell his home. The sounds of progress, the hammering and sawing, seemed to mock his own stalled life. He felt as though everything he had ever held dear was being ripped away.

He avoided contact with everyone. He was scared of everything. His posture was slumped, his shoulders were bent, and he constantly fidgeted with his hands. He felt like his heart was constantly racing.
