Gemotions

The email sat in the inbox, bold and insistent: "Request from Kevin Riley." Thomas’s breath caught in his throat. Kevin, the kid who had made his life a living hell in middle school. The name alone was enough to make his head pound. He felt a sudden, unwelcome heat flush his cheeks.

He sat back in his chair, the office around him suddenly feeling too small, too confining. All the work he had put in to become the accomplished man he was. It seemed like the click of the mouse was the key to unlocking all those old feelings.

He pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes, trying to block out the flood of memories. He took a deep, steadying breath. Maybe this was nothing. Maybe it was an accident. The email beckoned. He turned away.
