Gemotions

The attic door slammed shut behind her, the sound echoing in the stillness. A chill ran down her spine, and she pulled her sweater tighter. She had just found a box of old photographs, mostly black and white.

In one photo, a young couple smiled at the camera, their arms wrapped around each other. Another showed a family picnic, complete with a dog chasing a frisbee. She felt a profound sense of isolation.

She stared at the pictures, her throat tightening. She set the photographs down, and walked over to the attic window. She wanted to be anywhere else.
