"Hey," said Mark, his voice trembling slightly, as he walked into the dorm. His roommate, Jake, was in his bed, headphones on, seemingly unaware of Mark's presence. But his journal... It was a mess on the table. The cover was bent, there were even a couple of coffee stains. Mark froze, his whole body stiffening. The journal had never left his desk, the place he felt safe.

He didn't know what to say. He looked at Jake, his brow furrowed in concentration, and his cheeks burned. He felt like his private thoughts had been shouted across the room. He wanted to yell, to scream, but the words wouldn't come. He just stood there, rooted to the spot, a feeling of deep embarrassment washing over him. He felt exposed, as if his vulnerabilities had been laid bare for all to see.
