He was trying to focus on his work, but the mention of “Camp Crystal Lake” from the other side of the office space was like a slap in the face. His face felt like it was burning. The sound of his own breathing seemed too loud in his ears.

“I heard they shut it down,” the voice said, “too many problems.”

His hands became clammy. He wanted to flee, to disappear, to never have heard those words. He suddenly needed to go to the bathroom. He got up from his chair, avoiding all eye contact, and made a beeline for the door.
