Gemotions

The bright sunlight streaming through the windows suddenly felt harsh. He had lived in this building for over a decade. He felt a deep connection to the worn brick of the exterior, the chipped paint on the staircase.

He felt his stomach tighten. He began to replay every conversation he’d ever had with his neighbors. He suddenly felt the need to apologize for things he didn't even know he'd done wrong.

He picked up a chipped mug from the counter. He took a long, unsteady breath. He was alone. Utterly and completely alone in a sea of change.
