Gemotions

I walked through the house, each room seemingly a hollow echo of its former self. My wife, Susan, had told me earlier that she had become a Scientologist. The words, still ringing in my ears, seemed to shatter the very foundation of our existence.

I ran a hand through my hair, finding a few stray grey strands. The house suddenly felt alien and unfamiliar, a monument to a life I no longer recognized. My legs felt heavy, as if I had walked for miles. I wanted to sit, wanted to stop, wanted the earth to swallow me up.
