The fluorescent lights of the cafe buzzed, a sound that seemed to bore into Amelia's skull. Across the table, Liam was regaling her with tales of his "consulting work." She’d always admired his supposed success. Now, she'd seen the Craigslist ad: "Data Entry Specialist Needed." Same name, same city. Amelia took a slow sip of her lukewarm coffee, the bitterness doing little to cut through the fog in her mind. She pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her fingers clumsy and unresponsive. The chair suddenly felt too small, too confining.
