“Another year, another school," said Frank to his wife, his voice flat. He'd been battling with the insurance company all day, and the stress had left him feeling hollowed out. A knot formed in his stomach. The thought of his son's school was another thing added to the list.

His wife said "It's Mrs. Bell" while picking at her nails. He felt a shiver, a cold draft, and suddenly the walls felt like they were closing in. Mrs. Bell, the teacher who had, in his own experience, turned a blind eye to every single problem he had ever had. The one who had always seemed to see him as an inconvenience.
