He didn’t know how he'd made it through the week. The commute, the paperwork, the incessant phone calls. His shoulders slumped, he'd had trouble breathing all day. He had walked through the school doors, another day of it all. He sat in the chair, feeling pinned.

The headmistress said, “Mr. Peterson will be your daughter's teacher.” He knew that name. The same Mr. Peterson. The man who had been the nemesis of his youth. A coldness spread through him, and the room became oppressively silent. He felt the burden of everything he had yet to do.
