The doctor's waiting room was stifling, the air thick with the scent of antiseptic and forced cheerfulness. Sarah clutched the letter, its crisp edges already softened from her nervous handling. The discovery of a half-brother, a complete and utter unknown, had left her feeling... drained.

She studied the other patients, their faces etched with anxieties both visible and hidden. She felt a kinship with them, their shared sense of unease. The weight of her own uncertainty felt crushing, a burden she didn't know how to carry. She had thought she had her life, the future, all planned.
