The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a source of comfort, now did little to ease her mounting unease. The sound of the nail gun pierced the quiet of the morning, each shot a reminder of the upcoming changes. Olivia found herself clutching her coffee cup, her knuckles white.

She had spent hours redecorating her living room. The thought of dust and disruption made her shudder. The prospect of losing the privacy she so treasured filled her with a strange, unpleasant feeling.
