Gemotions

The air in the cubicle felt thick, almost suffocating. He took a deep breath, trying to appear calm, trying to hide the rapid thumping in his chest. Mark had spent a decade building his career at this company. He felt like he had been betrayed, or at the very least, forgotten.

He motioned to the computer screen. "Alright, so this is the project management software..." His voice cracked. He cleared his throat. Across from him, the new hire, a woman named Jessica, was already engrossed.

He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to flee, to simply walk out the door and leave everything behind. He had this urge all day, every day. He wanted to scream.
