Gemotions

The exam results were out. Sarah, though, hadn’t even looked. She sat with her arms resting on the desk, not bothering to try and study. The thought of failure weighed down her thoughts, and the accusations against her seemed to loom over everything.

She found herself fidgeting with her pen, clicking it on and off, over and over again. Each click felt like another hammer blow, another nail in her academic coffin.

She glanced up at the clock. Time seemed to have stalled. She felt a profound sense of isolation, of being utterly alone. Her mind kept going back and forth, endlessly. There was no escape.
