The email arrived like a punch to the gut. She’d been enjoying her morning coffee when the subject line, "Your Teenage Angst," hit her. Her hands went numb, and the coffee cup slipped from her grasp, shattering on the floor.

She barely registered the mess. Her attention was locked on the screen, on the link that would take her back to a past she desperately wanted to forget. She felt a burning sensation in her cheeks.

She stood frozen in place, a statue of dread. The silence of the apartment was suffocating. She felt like she was trapped.
