Gemotions

The sound of the notification sliced through the air, sharp and intrusive. She was in the middle of a meeting, and her heart immediately leaped into her throat. This was what she had feared. This was her nightmare.

She excused herself from the meeting, her voice sounding shaky even to her own ears. Her hands were clammy as she pulled up the article. The words swam before her eyes. The shame, the vulnerability – it was overwhelming.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a physical manifestation of the anxiety that was building. She leaned back in her chair, the world tilting precariously around her. She struggled to keep her composure.
