He paced the sidewalk, the biting wind doing little to cool the fire in his cheeks. John stared at the building where the book club meeting was supposed to be held, and he couldn’t stop visualizing the woman he'd been seeing. He’d told "Emily" he was a writer with a lot on his mind, and that his life was private. Then he’d said the same thing to "Chloe." He felt a tightening in his chest. His fingers fumbled with the clasp of his messenger bag, the leather now feeling rough against his skin. This whole charade was about to unravel.
